Progression Update


It has been over a week since the last update (which had no devlog), and almost 3 since my last devlog, but I have been hard at work trying to get this game somewhat ready for a steam launch. I am aiming for another 2-4 weeks of development, which should hopefully include atleast 2 weeks of polish and advertising, but only time will tell how this plays out. In the meantime, I have many new things to share. This update greatly restructures the overall progression and structure of the game, and brings it closer in line with what the game will play like on release. This includes a lot of reworks to existing features and content, as well as plenty of new content.

All of these changes revolve around the brand new Warehouse. The warehouse now serves as the main engine of progression, even more so than it did before. This is to do mainly with creating a new system that requires the player to gather and store various materials needed to construct buildings, forcing a linear progression that looks like so: mining a certain rock -> unlock new buildings -> upgrade mining capabilities/unlock new mineable rock -> repeat This new approach means that the sole purpose of the game is no longer generating as much money as possible but now requires seeking out specific resources that are required to progress. With this update, I have also greatly improved the construction system, but allowing certain buildings to be upgraded. This will help a lot in the futures since it means that buildings can now have more and more different capabilities crammed into each without overwhelming the player with new content by gradually introducing it, and overall adds a lot of extra content and progression.

I won’t provide specific details on what is new, so if you are reading this, feel free to play the game and explore yourself, but I will say that a few crucial and requested features have been added, and the game is getting closer to feeling complete.
